Food Hunt at Zion Road

After having me bug BF for the last 2 weeks, he has finally found time to go enjoy a nice plate of CKT with me at Zion Rd! Yayee it's the famous No. 18 :D

It lives up to its name and I did taste the awesome pork lard crisps omg the sinful juices. Lurbbbb it. I think it's really flavourful, sweet with a bit of spicy tinge, wet but not sloshing in oil. Definitely one of the best plates I have had so far *-*

Andddd found a little gem that only sells white steamed chicken rice!! My fave! ;D initially wanted to try the Boon Tiong Kee (but BF told me it's not the Boon Tong Kee I was confusing it with hahaha noob) but this Dong Fong Fatt was just next to it and the many newspaper clippings were pretty convincing methinks LOLL.

So yes. Best chicken rice. The chicken itself is a normal sort of good, with nice light soya sauce drizzled over it. The RICE is the best grainy (as in not mushy AT ALL) chicken rice and it tastes awesome with their chilli sauce. Yums!

Now we are washing these down with soya milk haha. BF's with pearls and mine is a bandung soya milk which tastes weird.... not the fragrant bandung I was expecting /: oh well. Missing my gongcha nao.

Okies heading to smu to give my sis a lift home and BF got to poooooooop *pinches nose*

Mood: Guilty

Brunchner: KFC 2-piece chicken meal!!!! (My only consolation is that past-self skipped the pepsi D: )

Biggest Sin: SKIPPED GYM!!!!!!!!

Not only is that counter-productive to my GET SLIM plans, it has also let Zhizhi down because we're supposed to go togetherrrr.

Some more I actually drank about 2 cups of Bailey's yesterday! TALK ABOUT FATS!! And all the juicy (read: oily/cancerous/fattyyyy) chicken and mutton BBQ for dinner yesterday at Samuel's National Day celebration D: good food tortures me........

My last hope/REMEDY:

Skipping in the morning.

Salad and soup tomorrow.

Persevereeeee, soldier.

Homecook + Lazy West-to-East Sunday!

As I'm writing this, I'm watching the women's hurdles event on Channel 5 :D The American, Moline, is reallyyyy pretty! And she's still schooling in college (LIKE ME! But she does it in Arizona, which is much much cooler than me). Why am I not athletic. I'm going to be athletic!!

Aaaanyways, I've managed to watch synchonised swimming (duets, tactical, apparently) just now and I loved the Canadian's! Russians were good too, but then apparently they have always been good. So no surprises huh. hahaha.

So today (as in Sunday, since it's 2am on a Monday now), we went on a foodie quest to Arnold's Fried Chicken because it has been more than a year since we've been there I think. And I miss miss the friend chicken ): But along the way, we saw long long long lines of pasar malam stores outside City Plaza, and I had a bad feeling then. You see, Arnold's is popular with Malays, and it was full of Hari Raya festivities out there at Paya Lebar.

The parking entrance confirmed the crowd. So we went to Old Airport Road instead.

At this point, I'm not sure to punctuate with a (: or ): because OAR has GOOOOOOD food!! The most obvious being LBTH which I've only went a few days ago! Then there was the Lau Fu Zi Char Kway Teow!! I had the hunch that it is famous!! But when I went on a late Thursday afternoon the first time, there was NO QUEUE. So I thought, meh, maybe not that famous - but the kway teow was AWSHUMS.

So imagine the non-surprise when we went today and it had a queue of maybe 10 people, a wait of about 15mins. Not bad at all for post-lunch crowd (3pm plus). The horde effect is seldom wrong for hawker food (;

$3 - a good serving of ckt
$5 - same as above + 2 big prawns + a bit more hum?

In any case, I would gladly take 2x $3 than the $5 any day loll.

And we tried 51 tau huay as Lao Ban wasn't ready at 4.30pm ): 51 was alright. Think LB is sweeter? I prefer LB stilllll! Though boyfriend and kh were neutral.

Talk about food, the night before, friends came over and we had a bit of a cookout session - aglio olio, stir-fried mushrooms+capsicums, pork belly, cajun chicken breast, and some pretty huge sausages.

Kh dictated most of the items on the menu and it all came together nicely (': though my aglio olio was way too bland. Can't place what was I missing......... it was alright when we did it back in Troy on my exchange, you see. In fact, it was darn good. Sigh.

NEXT CHALLENGE: Creating my own tomato-based spaghetti sauce. Not exactly own, but koping recipes online hehehehee.

On the side note!

Remember when I was trying to decide what to put on my nails... and I decided on these blue+yellow!

Here they look suuuuper pretty (though the boys didn't like it as much as I did pfft):

And guess what, after painting them, I realised that the colours look like they come from...

Yeah. The Swedish flag. Damn...... no wonder they looked so pretty X: they have the Scandinavian in them.

Choupinette + Zong's 23rd

Hiiii it's been a while. Been to Malaysia last weekend and it was quite fun :D got to ride a bike hahaha and also ate really good hometown food (':

What happened next was some slacking (major slacking) and then volunteering for APPIES at NUS. It was quite an eyeopener, though the job was mundane. Didn't know how to network (do volunteers at an event network) so only made friends with the fellow volunteers loll.

The past Monday saw the Marcamp happening! Nice knowing some more marketing specialists hahaha and also the juniors who are quite the bundle of fun (: but hated running at Sentosaaaa. I got to get my stamina up again. Gymming has to be consistent.

And then there was Kotex Challenge which went well, but it was a really mixed feeling because it seems like every other team thinks that they did well too ): Team I.K.R. really hopes to win the money and the internship positions!!!

My homies, Esther, and Ester (;

On Thursday, the interns went back to AvenueOne to send our love from Old Airport Road - Lao Ban Tau Huay!! It was such an accomplishment to bring the 28 boxes of tauhuay to and fro to Commonwealth haha. Good job to Elaine and I who managed to find the way (':

Aaaaand, yesterday was chapalang day. We went to send the car for inspection, and then went to JP for Fish & Co, and then I went to buy my nail polish (Y)! Concluded the day with Total Recall! It was an entertaining movie. But TDKR seriously raised all the bars for action films ((((: Proud of Christopher Nolan haha.

Hottie Colin Farrell. Yums.

At night, we celebrated Zong's birthday with Nutella Fudgesicle Cake (double layered!) that Sam and I made hahaha. Then there was MI4 Ghost Protocol screening, and whacking the heck out of dino-bird the pinata loll. Watching the muay thai fighter bash a cute little dino is just wrong.
Us making the cake and squeezing dino full with goodies!

So this Saturday morning was a special one. BECAUSE WE FINALLY MADE IT TO CHOUPINETTE! Been wanting to try the eggs benedict here! And it didn't disappoint. The talk about the awesome hollandaise sauce was really not just any rave. Dk why HungryGoWhere rates the place 66%....... well, the place IS small, but the eggs were nice (': though I would prefer the option of having just ONE egg like Hatched does... Needed some room for the good ole dessert of chocolate+creme brulee (Double Plasir, or Double Pleasure in French haha).

That sums up the awesome two weeks I had. One more week till lessons reopen D:

Meanwhile, will try and cook more these days. Tonight we have homecooked aglio olio (me), pork belly and cajun chicken (kh) aaaaaand mushroom soup (grant).

LOOKING FOWARDS.
