Homecook + Lazy West-to-East Sunday!

As I'm writing this, I'm watching the women's hurdles event on Channel 5 :D The American, Moline, is reallyyyy pretty! And she's still schooling in college (LIKE ME! But she does it in Arizona, which is much much cooler than me). Why am I not athletic. I'm going to be athletic!!

Aaaanyways, I've managed to watch synchonised swimming (duets, tactical, apparently) just now and I loved the Canadian's! Russians were good too, but then apparently they have always been good. So no surprises huh. hahaha.

So today (as in Sunday, since it's 2am on a Monday now), we went on a foodie quest to Arnold's Fried Chicken because it has been more than a year since we've been there I think. And I miss miss the friend chicken ): But along the way, we saw long long long lines of pasar malam stores outside City Plaza, and I had a bad feeling then. You see, Arnold's is popular with Malays, and it was full of Hari Raya festivities out there at Paya Lebar.

The parking entrance confirmed the crowd. So we went to Old Airport Road instead.

At this point, I'm not sure to punctuate with a (: or ): because OAR has GOOOOOOD food!! The most obvious being LBTH which I've only went a few days ago! Then there was the Lau Fu Zi Char Kway Teow!! I had the hunch that it is famous!! But when I went on a late Thursday afternoon the first time, there was NO QUEUE. So I thought, meh, maybe not that famous - but the kway teow was AWSHUMS.

So imagine the non-surprise when we went today and it had a queue of maybe 10 people, a wait of about 15mins. Not bad at all for post-lunch crowd (3pm plus). The horde effect is seldom wrong for hawker food (;

$3 - a good serving of ckt
$5 - same as above + 2 big prawns + a bit more hum?

In any case, I would gladly take 2x $3 than the $5 any day loll.

And we tried 51 tau huay as Lao Ban wasn't ready at 4.30pm ): 51 was alright. Think LB is sweeter? I prefer LB stilllll! Though boyfriend and kh were neutral.

Talk about food, the night before, friends came over and we had a bit of a cookout session - aglio olio, stir-fried mushrooms+capsicums, pork belly, cajun chicken breast, and some pretty huge sausages.

Kh dictated most of the items on the menu and it all came together nicely (': though my aglio olio was way too bland. Can't place what was I missing......... it was alright when we did it back in Troy on my exchange, you see. In fact, it was darn good. Sigh.

NEXT CHALLENGE: Creating my own tomato-based spaghetti sauce. Not exactly own, but koping recipes online hehehehee.

On the side note!

Remember when I was trying to decide what to put on my nails... and I decided on these blue+yellow!

Here they look suuuuper pretty (though the boys didn't like it as much as I did pfft):

And guess what, after painting them, I realised that the colours look like they come from...

Yeah. The Swedish flag. Damn...... no wonder they looked so pretty X: they have the Scandinavian in them.
